What is Plastic Injection Moulding?
Injection moulding is a process that has been around since the early 1900's. It is with today's technology has become a cost effective way to produce plastic components but the concept is still the same.
Plastic resin is screwed through the barrel of the machine using a large screw, much like a cork screw. The barrel is continuously heated so when the plastic reaches the end it is in a molten state. The plastic is then injected into a pre-designed mould, when it cools the finished product is ejected. This is of course all fully automated and run by on board computers.
